Invitation Only by Kate Brian

Questions and Comments:
This book is the second book in the series Private. The other book was about a private boarding school. Reed is introduced as a freshman to this new school. Then, there are the legendary Billing Girls. The Billing Girls apparently are like "The Mean Girls" movie. They control basically everyone and almost everything. Reed longs to be one of them and in the end of the first book, she does. The second book then starts. Apparently she has to clean for the Billing Girls as part of a deal for them accepting her into their dorm room. A girl then blackmails her with a picture that could get her kicked out of school. In return, she has to snoop through the things of the girls who accepted her and who she considered her friends, for evidence to be used against them in a recent cheating scandal. I think that Reed is actually very brave and I can understand her position. She is actually snooping and she is finding weird things. It makes me think twice, because my first impression was that the Billing Girls were a group of spoiled rich kids, but apparently they have problems, some serious and some minor. Near the end of the book, Reed agrees to go to some party called "The Legacy" which is top secret and you can only be admitted if your family has been in New York for about 4 generations. Reed can only get in a certain way, through a guy, as a date. She finally gets in. There, the party lives up to its expectations with luxurious rooms and expensive gifts ranging from the thousands. She tries desperately to look for Thomas, which I think if a waste of time. Her boyfriend, Thomas is currently MIA suddenly and nobody knows where he went. After a while, she confronts the Billing Girls about the things she found and they tell her that it was all a test to see if they could trust her. I found this part especially shocking because everyone played their part SO well, so it was a bit unbelievable when they suddenly had a twist like that. I was kind of pissed at the same time because I felt that they had no right to decieve Reed like that. After she finds out, they tell her that she passed the test and she is officially accepted into the Billings House. They go on with the party and soon sneak into their private school. Suddenly, they see that there are police cars everywhere on campus. Reed then hears that her boyfriend is dead. The book ends, which is a huge cliffhanger.

I think this book was really good. The first one was good too and I didn't know if Kate Brian could top the first one but she did. The book was very suspenseful as well as entertaining. There were hardly any boring parts in the book. I plan on reading the next book, Untouchable, soon.

Double Identity by Margaret Peter Haddix

Questions and Comments:
The book is a bit strange in the beginning. It starts out confusing. I think she's going somewhere. Why is her mother crying all the time? Where is she going? Why is she being silent, why doesn't she just say something? Why are they going to her aunt's house? Why is everything so secretive? What is her father keeping from her? I think it's unfair that her father just dumped his daughter off at her aunt's house without an explanation. I think Bethany should have spoken up and ask about the whole situation instead of just staying silent. How can Bethany have a sister Elizabeth who died about 10 years ago? How old does that make her parents? Who are they running from? I think her aunt and her cousin are good people that actually care. I don't like her mother and father. Why does her mother keep calling and pretending Bethany is Elizabeth? Is she mentally retarded? OH MY GOD, BETHANY IS A CLONE?!?! How is that possible? I feel so sorry for Bethany. I think Bethany is handling the situation very well. I would've been mad at my parents but she isn't. Why is Dalton always lurking around and asking her questions? The ending is very informative. It's actually a good ending. The ending actually was a relief because I was confused during the book because it was like a mystery book.

Thanks Allison again for letting me borrow yet another book :)
I think this book was a pretty good book. The ending is a bit confusing and some parts might throw you off but I think the main plot idea was good. The idea of cloning is actually a strange topic to write about, so it was very interesting to me because I never read a book about cloning.

13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Questions and Comments:
At first I was a bit confused in the beginning because the book was sort-of going backwards. Who is Hannah Baker? Why did she suicide because of those 13 people/events? I think it's a bit stupid she suicided because of these people, but then, the people were really harsh to her. How could she put up with all the rumors about her? Why was she so sensitive? Why didn't she tell anybody? It's saddening that Clay and Hannah both liked each other but neither knew about the other. How come Clay didn't just express his true feelings for Hannah? I think this book is very meaningful and shows how a person should be careful of what they say or do because they can cause a tragic event to occur, like for example, Hannah suiciding. I don't understand the last part. Does she want her teacher to rot in hell? I think it's unfair she let her teacher make the final decision of whether or not she was going to end her life.

Thanks Allison for lending me your book :)
I think this book was a really good book. It is now one of my top 20 books to read (as of the moment). This book was very deep and well written. Although some parts might be confusing as to determining the seperation between Hannah's voice and Clay's thoughts. The plot is VERY interesting to read and leads you on in suspense. Sometimes though, I skip a few pages of details (shhh) to get the main storyline. It's that good. I would recommend this to a friend, for sure.

It's a new book, so there isn't much information on it....sorry...

Go Ask Alice by Anonymous

Questions and Comments:
Why is she so happy that she was introduced to LSD? How can the people keep tract of the papers if there is no date? I wonder why Alice doesn't just tell somebody about how the kids at school are bothering her. Why are the kids at school so mean to her? Who spiked the peanuts with LSD? Why did the neighbors lock her up in a closet? That is so mean. I feel so sorry for her. Why did she suicide in the end if she was talking about how great her life was?

I think the book was a very good book although there were many parts that confused me. The book provided a very vivid description and lots of detail which gives me an insight on how drug users see things when they are under the influence.

I found out that the book actually created a lot of controversy. It was published in around 1971. It's supposed to be an actual diary of a girl who died of a drug overdose in the 1960s. Though some people think the editor Beatrice Sparks created the book. Also the name Alice isn't the girl's name! It is the name of one of the people that Alice sees also a drug user. The book was named after the song "White Rabbit" which Grace Slick wrote based on drug references in the novel Alice in Wonderland.
